Magical Potion

Hey Loves,

Hope you’re all are doing great.

So, there’s always this one product that you incorporate in your daily life, it’s probably something that you will continue using for as long as you can and as long it’s available to purchase on the market. Even if it’s not, you’ll hunt it down like a lioness, because thats how much it means to you. It’s almost like a magical potion and without it you’ll be lost like a little kid in a jungle.

Yep, I’m talking about the very famous Tea Tree Oil. Also, known as Melaleuca oil.

So, what is tea tree oil?

It is a renowned essential oil that works wonders, almost like pixie dust and just a little drop of this powerful and purifying potion will relief you from many things. Tea tree oil is known for its practically endless number of uses, particularly in relation to skin, hair and nails. This is my go to product, literally a life saver. I have to have this stuff in my beauty drawer at all times.

Tea tree oil consists of various properties, which effectively promotes healthy skin by soothing and healing uncountable skin problems such as acne, dandruff, skin infection and much more.

Tea tree oil properties:

Anti-inflammatory

Anti-bacterial

Anti-microbial

Anti-septic

Anti-viral

So, now that we’ve mentioned all the properties, let’s go into a little bit more detail in terms of how it helps various skin issues and how it can be used.

Acne

Tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that aids in targetting any redness, swelling and inflammation caused by acne. It helps to prevent acne scaring, hence, resulting in a clearer skin. Simply soak a cotton bud/swab and dab it on to the little bumps, leave it on overnight and continue with normal skin care routine the next morning.

Hair & Scalp

Tea tree oil is effective in treating dandruff due to its anti fungal and antibacterial properties, it targets fungus that causes dandruff, resulting in a clearer scalp. So, if you’re battling itchy/flaky scalp or dandruff and have tried all the dandruff shampoos in existence, why not give tea tree oil a try. In order to treat dandruff you can simply pour enough shampoo as required in your palm, with just one drop of tea tree oil, and massage into your scalp, leave it in for 5 mins and then you’re ready to rinse it out. Alternatively, you can add 10/12 drops into your shampoo bottle.

You can also use this as an oil treatment for your scalp, by a mixing a few drops into a carrier oil, such as almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil or olive oil and apply to scalp. You can use this as an overnight treatment or leave it in for an hour or two and then rinse it out. When rinsing you can repeat the above method. Tea tree oil also aids in unclogging the hair follicle and nourishes the roots, that results in reduction of hair loss.

Psoriasis

Although theres not much scientific research on tea tree oil for psoriasis, however other evidence suggest that it helps to ease discomfort caused by psoriasis such as redness, itchy skin, irritation and inflammation. It penetrates into the deep layers of the skin and soothes the skin through it’s anti-bacterial properties. You can dilute up to 1/2 drops of tea tree oil with 2/3 tablespoons of carrier oil and gently apply on the affected areas twice a day.

Eczema

So, dry itchy skin along with rash is a hallmark of eczema. This persistent condition can be really frustrating for some. ‘Tea tree oil to the rescue.’ It’s antiseptic properties helps to reduce itching and soothes the affected areas of the skin. Once again, just dilute up to 2/3 drop of tea tree oil into 3/4 tablespoons of carrier oil and apply as required.

Cuts or wounds

Due to the anti-septic properties of the oil, it can be used to heal any cuts or wounds. Just take a cotton bud, soak it with a drop of tea tree oil and apply to the affected areas directly.

Skin Infection

Yep, it’s also great for treating skin infections, such as athletes foot and fungal infections, through it’s anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. Just add a drop of tea tree oil with an prescribed ointment and apply as required.

Insect repellant

Damn those moquitoes, once again tea tree oil to the rescue. Just spray those bugs with 5-6 drops of tea tree oil, in a spray bottle filled half way with water. Not only that but it also soothes bug bites too, just dab tea tree oil on the bites and leave it to dry.

Funny enough, you can also use tea tree oil in your kitchen for cleaning, i know what your thinking WTH! but trust me on that one..

As amazing as this product is, i would still recommend anyone who would like to to give this a try to do a skin patch test and see whether it suits your skin. Also you should not use great amount of this product as a little bit goes a long way and can sometimes act as an irritant.

Bottom line is, this is such a multi-purpose product, it’s amazing. Just a drop of this stuff can change your whole life. If i could drink this, i would, but obviously i won’t. That how important this product is to me, it’s like my secret weapon to everything. I usually purchase my 20ml of magic potion from the The Body Shop for £12.00. As little as the bottle may seem, it does last you a very long time.

Till next my loves. x
